All_Natural_Glowing

The beauty industry encourages us to use all sorts of products to exfoliate, peel, strip, degrease, and moisturize our faces. But the problem this often creates is a dependency on these products. Our skin gets so off balance from its natural ability to cleanse its own pores and remain moisturized that we then “need” these chemical-based products in order to keep our skin looking and feeling nice.

But oftentimes it’s the products themselves that are creating our “problem” skin. The best advice for beautiful skin is to eat healthfully, drink plenty of water, and preserve the balance of oils your body naturally produces. I love castile soap for many reasons, one of them being that it cleans your skin thoroughly without stripping it of beneficial oils. You’ll also save an arm and a leg by making this simple recipe and customizing it for your skin’s specific needs (acne, anti-aging, color inconsistencies, etc.) It may take a week or two for your skin to adjust, but your skin will love you for it in the end!

The following recipe can be customized to your skin’s needs using essential oils that carry specific therapeutic benefits to skin. Some examples:

  • Tea tree and lavender for acne prone skin
  • Frankincense and lavender for mature skin
  • Sandalwood and chamomile for dry skin

Ingredients

  • 10-12-ounces of distilled water
  • 2 Tablespoons Liquid Castile Soap (Click here for the one I get on Amazon)
  • 1/2 tsp olive oil, avocado oil or almond oil
  • 10 drops essential oils for targeted function (see ideas above)

Instructions

  1. Add water to the soap dispenser first (I love this one on Amazon) If you have trouble finding a 12 ounce dispenser, decrease the water in this recipe as needed. Be sure to leave room for the pump lid to be screwed on later.
  2. Add liquid castile soap to the water mixture
  3. Add olive oil/almond oil
  4. Add essential oils
  5. Put the lid on and give it a few swirls to mix

Regarding your container:

you can reuse foaming hand soap bottles from store bought soap or get your own. Amazon has some gorgeous foaming pump bottles and you can spend a little or a lot depending on what you want. I love that I even save money when I buy a nice pretty dispenser, since 3 or 4 refills will pay for itself (given that some of the cheaper hand soaps at the store are $3-$5 each!)
