Letโs get FAT together! No, I donโt mean for us to BECOME fat, just get fats in our diet. And no, not grease and processed junk food fat. Iโm talking about healthy fats and essential fatty acids. EFAs help you absorb other nutrients, greatly boost your immune system, and majorly contribute to healthy hormonal balance. I hereby challenge you to a pantry check. Purge the bad fat and replace it with the good. Make sure you’re getting plenty of good fat every day. One to two servings is all it takes to experience the benefits.

GOOD FAT
These fats will not cause you to gain weight. In fact, they can even help promote weight loss and overall health, as well as help with depression, type 2 diabetes, fatigue, concentration problems, joint pain, and skin problems.
- Coconut oil (this is my #1 highly recommended oil for cooking and skincare. Read why here: Coconut Oil Benefits (and how to find the best quality)
- Fish oil (from wild caught fish โ can be from eating salmon and other fish, or taken as a supplement – best in the form of Krill Oil)
- Fresh flaxseed oil
- Avocado and avocado oil
- Seeds and nuts of all varieties (and nut/seed butters)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Boiled cauliflower, boiled cabbage, and steamed broccoli
BAD FAT
In addition to weight gain, bad fats increase the risk for disease.
- Any hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils (these are trans fats)
- Margarine
- Shortening
- Vegetable oil, corn oil, soy oil, and safflower oil

Thanks for the insight! Just what I needed!
Wonderful information! Thanks!
I am loving my Mrs. May Nut bar. They are so yummy and a great snack.
Love Mrs. May’s, Tamarah! I keep them in my desk at the office for “emergencies” haha. Emergency = it’s 5p.m., time to leave, and I’m so hungry already that by the time I commute home and start dinner, I’ll be so hungry that I’ll for sure raid the pantry while cooking.
Hi McKenna, it is a great information! Thanks for sharing! ๐
Thank you for reminding me about these important foods! LOVED this – now I just wanna munch on some cashews!
We love to olive oil, but our friends have introduced us to cocconut oil. Thanks for your great insight!
Coconut oil is the best oil in my opinion!
That’s funny, I just finished making (and eating) guacamole!
I had seen your post on facebook about having guacamole for dinner and just started craving it!
Here’s my recipe if anyone wants it:
Robyn’s Guacamole
1 avacado- mashed with a fork (so its still a bit chunky)
1 medium tomato- diced
1/4 cup red onion
2 tsp lemon juice
a dash (or two) each of chili powder/ garlic powder/ and pepper
Mix everything together and enjoy!!
oh no, forgot I also put a dollop of 0% plain greek yogurt!!
haha here’s a picture ๐

Great article! Nuts are so yummy and good for you. I have been bringing them to work as an afternoon snack to keep me from coming home being starved. Thanks!
Great title! Great concise info on fats too! Excellent resource for health nuts like me! (Not that I’m nuts or anything.) ๐
